Background information:
Our client, TPO Uganda is a national
Ugandan Non-Governmental Organization that has been operating in Uganda since
1994. TPO-Uganda services are delivered through a community and family-oriented
intervention model. They envision a society where vulnerable and marginalized
people enjoy mental health, social and economic wellbeing and lead harmonious,
mutually supportive and productive lives. They are now looking for a focused
and self-reliant individual to fill the position of FINANCE MANAGER
Job Summary:
The Finance Manager will be a member
of the Senior Management Team and will be responsible for coordinating the
strategic activities of the finance function and managing orgarnizational
resources in line with organizational policies and procedures.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Supervise and monitor the
liquidity position and treasury function of the organization to ensure that the
organization can meet its financial obligations as they fall due.
• Supervise, support and maintain a
competent finance team as well as training of the non finance staff in
finiancial policies/regulations and managment.
• To respond timely and consistently
to audit queries and implement audit recommendations from both external and
internal auditors.
• Participate in the review and
preparation of project budget and cash flow statements that comply with grant
agreements and are realistic to the financial needs of TPO.
• Improve and maintain financial and
management gathering information systems that will enable accurate and timely
reporting (both internally and externally).
• Monitor and maintain the general
internal control environment by ensuring proper utilization of organizational
resources.
• Asset and Corporate management:
Contribute and maintain policies on the use of organization assets and maintain
an updated fixed asset register for the organization. Contribute to decisions
on strategic resource allocation and to policy and management decisions as a
member of senior management team.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum ACCA Associate with an
accounting degree preferably B.Com
• Should have managed an annual
portfolio exceeding US$2million
• Over 5 years’ experience in senior
financial management capacity
• Ability to supervise and manage a
diverse team
• Multi-donor experience with some
of the following; USAID, UNICEF, DANIDA as well as Foundations.
• Experience managing sub grants.
• Previous experience as head of
department or accounting unit.
• Risk management, and external,
internal audit experience.
• Excellent skills in excel and
familiarity with computerized accounting in particular SAGE Pastel accounting
software
