The post is to be filled as of 01/01/2014, and is scheduled to end on 31/12/2017. The office is located in Kampala, Uganda, with duty trips to the project locations.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As the expert for programme coordination in the Regional Office, you support the Regional Director with the planning and implementation of programmes and projects, and with the conceptual further development of Welthungerhilfe's commitment in the region.
Your most important duties are as follows:
·         Identification, review and comments for new project ideas and co-financing possibilities
·         Assist and advise project management during the preparation and implementation of M&E-relevant activities such as baseline studies, interim and final evaluations
·         Implementation of training sessions and workshops for project managers and national staff on the issue of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
·         Supervision of proper implementation of projects and programmes in accordance with Welthungerhilfe's quality standards
·         Represent Welthungerhilfe at coordination meetings with partner organisations, ministries and co-financiers
·         Monitor the use of funds and financial requirements, and ensure proper and timely reporting to the head office and co-financiers
·         Participate in the planning and implementation of public relations activities
Qualifications will include:
·         A relevant university or polytechnic degree
·         Several years of relevant professional experience with co-financed projects of international (aid) agencies, preferably in the region
·         Coordination and organisational skills - even under a high workload
·         Practical experience of planning and research methods
·         A very good knowledge of both spoken and written English; knowledge of French would be an asset
