Background
Information:
Dairy Development Authority (DDA) is a
Semi¬Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture,
Animal Industry and Fisheries
(MAAIF). It is established under the Dairy Industry Act of 1998. Its Mission is
'To provide dairy development and regulatory services that will ensure
increased production and consumption of milk, sustainable and profitable dairy
industry sector; contribute to economic development and improved nutritional
standards in Uganda".
In order to effectively fulfill its mandate,
the Authority would like to fill the under- listed positions:
Post:
Principal Tutor
Positions:
2 (Two)
Reports
to: Dairy Development Manager
Duty
station: Dairy Training School, Entebbe
Purpose
of the Job
To co-ordinate implementation of the Dairy
training programmes aimed at producing well trained human resource for dairy
value addition extension services.
Key
functions:
· To
train stakeholders in product development, value addition and quality assurance
among others.
· To
monitor the academic programmes of the school.
· To
participate in the day to day management of the school.
· Develop
and implement rules and regulations for the school.
· Develop
tailor made courses in consultation with stakeholders to suit the needs of the
dairy sub- sector.
· Participate
in the development of the school curriculum.
· To
generate and coordinate orientation programmes for new students.
· To
participate in the evaluation of training material and courses.
· To
ensure training materials are produced and periodically reviewed.
· To
design and produce certificates of attendance.
· To
design means and ways of generating resources to make the school run smoothly
and independently.
· To
develop quarterly and annual work plans for the school.
· Represent
the school in the different fora.
Qualifications
and Experience
· Must
have Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Technology, Dairy Science, Food Science
Technology, or related qualifications from recognized institutions of higher
learning.
· Post
graduate qualification in a management related field.
· At
least 5- years of relevant working experience.
· Should
have good knowledge and skills in milk processing best practices, Quality
systems and application of dairy standards, laws and regulations relevant to the
dairy industry.

Reports
to: Human Resource Manager
Purpose
of the job
To coordinate and provide human resource and
administrative support to the smooth running of the school activities.
Key
functions:
· To
Support the Dairy training school in human resource and administrative
functions.
· To
support the Dairy training school in managing performance of staff.
· Ensure
staff records and personal files are duly maintained and up-dated.
· Ensure
staff welfare services, cleanliness and hygiene of office and the school.
· Responsible
for availability of office supplies, office machinery and equipment.
· Ensure
that the machinery and equipment are in good functional state and serviced and
repaired in time.
· To
support the training school in preparing work plans and budgets.
· Coordinating
procurement and management of
office utilities.
· Organizing
and coordinating meetings.
· Coordinating
travel arrangements for staff.
· Preparing
reports and draft communications.
· Supporting
the implementation of school work plans.
· Responsible
for office premises and safe custody of office equipment, assets, documentation
and supplies.
· Responsible
for ensuring maintenance of school vehicles.
Qualifications
and Experience
· Must
have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource management
,Social Sciences and any other related qualifications from recognized
institutions of higher learning.
· Post
graduate qualification in a related field is an added advantage
· At
least 3 - years of relevant continuous experience in a large public
organization
· Demonstrated
understanding of the human resource and administration processes and
procedures.
· Should
have good interpersonal and communication skills and able to work with a
multiplicity of stakeholders.
· Should
be highly innovative and creative thinker.
· Must
have excellent computer, writing, presentation and negotiation skills.
· Ability
to work with minimum supervision.
