Back ground Information;
World Vision Uganda is a Christian Relief, Development and Advocacy Non-Government Organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in over 40 districts in Uganda. World Vision is committed to the protection of children and we will not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with children. Project profile:-
The SPIN is a nutrition project whose primary focus is to promote maternal infant and young child feeding practices. It will be implemented as a research partnership. The project will further enhance the capacity of World Vision Uganda to partner with local institutions at implementation level. Project will ensure alignment with World Vision health strategies & government of Uganda nutrition related strategies and frameworks particularly addressing malnutrition and improving the nutritional status of children and mothers.

 Purpose of the position:To provide technical support and coordination for the SPIN project (Strengthening Partnerships Research and Innovations for Improved Nutrition) in order to promote maternal and child nutrition in Mpigi district through building capacity of local institutions and government in research and innovation.
 Key Responsibilities
·         Capacity of local institutions, health care service providers, development facilitators built to assist them in delivering high quality interventions.
·         Delivery of training, mentorship and exposure to research related skills, use of research findings in effecting behavioral change strategies as well as  promoting innovation among local institutions.
·         Collaborations and networks built with development partners, community leaders and other stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of nutrition initiatives in WVU.
·         Training needs assessments, trainings conducted to facilitate and rolling out key intervention models
·         Survey design, data gathering and analyses, strategy development, program design, supervision, monitoring evaluation and networking supported with major stake holders
·         Effective use of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials promoted in World Vision Uganda and partners
·         Area Development Programmes and other partners supported to assess  data on nutrition to ensure rapid implementation of interventions that reduce mortality and morbidity

 Knowledge and skills:

·         A Bachelors degree in a nutrition, food science and technology, dietetics and/or health related discipline is preferable
·         Must demonstrate understanding or experience in nutrition programming
·         A minimum of 2 years of experience in managing community based nutrition projects in developing countries
·         Excellent skills required in reporting and documentation, and monitoring and evaluation
·         Knowledge of World Vision operations, and national office programming preferable
·         Must be a creative individual with strong sense of vision, commitment and priorities
·         Must have strong organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams at community level
·         Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills
·         Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
