Job Summary:
FINCA seeks a strong leader to launch and manage a
large-scale micro-energy business in Uganda and eventually surrounding
countries. The CEO of FINCA's energy program will be based in Uganda, would
report to the Director, Research and New Business Initiatives, at FINCA
International in Washington, DC. The CEO position would be structured as a
long-term consultancy of at least 1 year, with the intention of turning into a
full time position based on performance. Start date is no later than August 30,
2013.
MAIN ACTIVITIES

Within 6 months, the CEO will launch FINCA
energy program in Uganda, with well-trained and qualified staff, a sound
operational foundation, and a path to financial sustainability.

The CEO will be directly responsible for the
day-to-day management of FINCA's micro-energy business.
·
Ensure high quality customer servicing
·
Implement best-practice corporate governance,
management, organizational structure and procedures, staff development,
financial management, and risk management principles,
·
Develop strategy for expansion into new
geographic areas
·
Manage supplier partnerships and relationships
with key stakeholders Manage an organization of approximately 20 people within
three years as program scales
·
Mobilize funding resources in form of debt
capital, if necessary
PROFILE:
Education &
Experience
·
Advanced Degree in relevant field (banking,
business, finance)
·
Minimum 10-15 years of experience managing at
least a small to medium-sized organization of at least 10 people
·
Comfortable with all aspects of setting up and
managing an organization, including operations, accounting, marketing, risk!
internal controls, etc. Experience launching, staffing, and managing new
ventures to offer products and services targeted at the bottom of the pyramid
·
Experience in supply chain management, sales,
and distribution. Ideally. candidate has successfully set up sales,
distribution, and customer servicing networks, particularly in rural areas in
East Africa
·
Strong partnership management and negotiation
skills
·
High degree of integrity and transparency in
communications
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Availability to travel up to 60% of time within Uganda, and
eventually within E. Africa.
