 Position Title
  1.   Clinical Officer.
  2.   Field Worker / Mobiliser

Location:  Kyamulibwa field station Kalungu District with possible visits to Entebbe station
Contract Duration: 9 months, with possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding.

 Reports : to the Project leader (GPC)
                 Job purpose:
The successful candidate will conduct Verbal Autopsy interviews in Kyamulibwa (and possibly Entebbe) field sites using electronic data capture systems. S(he) may be asked to conduct other interviews using paper questionnaires, and to work as a clinician on other MRC studies in Kyamulibwa or Entebbe.
This position reports to the Project leader (GPC) and will be based in Kyamulibwa field station Kalungu District with possible visits to Entebbe station
The post holder will be responsible for accomplishing the following:
• Responsible for daily coordination of field activities including daily assignment of roles to staff and measuring outputs.
• Conduct verbal autopsies
• Ensure proper data collection by checking for completeness and consistency.
• Provide regular progress reports of field activities and suggest strategies for improvement.
• In liaison with field workers, sensitise communities on study activities and study outcomes.
• Provide clinical support to the field clinic nurses in medical management of patients in the GPC clinic
• Contribute to study designs and publications.
Qualifications and Experience:
a) Essential:
• Diploma in clinical medicine (clinical officer), health sciences or related field.
• 4 years’ experience in: health field interviewing using electronic data capture or paper questionnaire.
• One year’s experience in clinical work or nursing care.
• The person must be compassionate especially for recent bereavement.
• Knowledge of local language (Luganda).
• Computer literate in MS Office packages.
• Ability to ride a motorcycle with Class A riding permit.
GCP certification and counselling training
Terms and conditions:
This is a full-time job for 9 months, with possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding.
Salary and Allowances:
An attractive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be paid as per MRC/UVRI salary structure.

  Field Worker / Mobiliser
 
Overall job purpose:
The successful candidate will scheduleVerbal Autopsy interviews in Kyamulibwa (and possibly Entebbe) field site. S(he) may be asked to conduct interviews using paper
questionnaires or electronic data capture in Kyamulibwa or Entebbe.
This position reports to the Clinical officer and will be based in Kyamulibwa Field station – Kalungu District, with possible travel to Entebbe.
The post holder will be responsible for accomplishing the following:
• Ensure full understanding of objectives, procedures, risks and benefits of participation by volunteers
• Contribute to effective mobilization of the study population and provide feedback to communities on study results.
• Give study information and confirm consent is obtained for the study
• Obtain informed consent, if not already obtained
• Facilitate group education sessions about study requirements
• Administer study questionnaire/other study tools (as may be required) to the study participants
• Resolve queries whenever there is need to do so
Transcribe and translate data from the study, as may be required by the Project Leader.
Qualifications and Experience:
a) Essential:

• UCE certificate with credits in English and Maths.
• One year’s experience in: health field interviewing using electronic data capture or paper questionnaire.
• Good community mobilisation and communication skills.
• The person must be compassionate especially for recent bereavement.
• Good knowledge of the GPC study area including Kyamulibwa sub-county.
• Able to ride a motor-bike with a valid class A rider’s permit.
b) Desirable:
• Being a resident in Kyamulibwa sub-county.
• Knowledge of MS Office packages especially MS Access.
• Certificate in health education/health promotion.
• GCP certification and counselling training.
