NUWODU is the National Union of Women with Disabilities of Uganda which was formed in November 1999. It is an indigenous umbrella organisation of national and district based organisations of women with disabilities that bring together all categories of women with disability in Uganda including the physically disabled, sensory disabled, psychosocial disabilities, and women with epilepsy. NUWODU also registers Uganda Parents of Children with intellectual Disabilities. (UPACLED) as full members. NUWODU’s vision is to have a society where girls and women with disabilities live dignified lives.
The mission is to promote social, cultural, economic and political advancement of girls and women with disabilities through advocacy for their effective participation in development.
NUWODU currently has district branches in 27 districts but plans to work in all districts of Uganda.
NUWODU is seeking to recruit dynamic, energetic and result-oriented professionals to take up the following positions in the organisation:
Main Tasks and Responsibilities include:
- Head the project district Secretariat.
- Train groups of the target Sub-county associations of women and girls with disabilities and the local council leaders based on agreed training activities as indicated in the implementation schedule.
- Organize lobby meetings with different target stakeholders in liaison with the district association of women and girls with disabilities Executive Committee.
- Manage, account and compile financial reports for the funds remitted to the project district.
- Coordinate all district activities.
- Compile and submit quarterly narrative and financial reports to the head office.
- Write project proposals and mobilise resources at the local level for the Association
- Carry-out any other duties as may be assigned by the organisation in line with the project activities.

Requirement:
- Educational background should be A diploma in Social Work and Social.
- Administration/Community Development from a recognized institution.
- Have knowledge on project planning and management.
- Comprehensive knowledge about gender and disability.
- Financial Management Skills.
- Excellent networking and advocacy skills.
- Good communication and mobilization skills.
- Fluency in oral and written English and Lunyankole and Luo.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to live and work in a rural setting.
- Computer skills and ability to use Ms Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- 3 years practical experience in project work, preferably in an NGO.
