HLS ENGINEER II – VAS/IN OPERATIONS (1 position)


 MTN-Uganda is the leading telecommunications Company in Uganda, providing payphone, fixed lines, fax/data, internet and mobile services. MTN is an equal opportunity employer and is seeking to recruit a competent individual to fill the vacant Position of HLS Engineer II – VAS/IN Operations

 The position reports to the Principal Engineer VAS/IN Operations

 The main purpose of the job is: -

 To operate and maintain the VAS & IN systems and Service Layer, ensuring a high quality Prepaid network and service availability of added services.


 Prime responsibilities of the position:
·         Ensure availability of VAS/IN infrastructure / services through execution of routine maintenance tasks and speedy fault resolution.
·         Attend VAS/IN incidents escalated from the VAS-NOC.
·         Liaise with and escalate faults to respective vendors for resolution.
·         Resolution of work orders as assigned by internal customers.
·         Act as a resource for VAS/IN capacity expansion works as well as new node product integration into MTN Network.
 The applicant must possess the following:
·         A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering.
·         Unix/Solaris/Linux and Database basic Skills.
·         1-2 years’ experience in mobile GSM network environment.
·         Good analytical and trouble shooting skills.
·         Competence with oracle and MySQL databases, shell scripting. UNIX/LINUX system administration is required.
·         Male/female, Self-supervision and can-do attitude, Under 27 years, Ability to work long hours, weekends and night duty (Shift Work), Do emergency unscheduled work.
