Kalangala Oil Palm Growers Trust (KOPGT)
support oil palm farmers in Kalangala to grow oil palm and market the group for
the benefit of the oil palm growers. KOPGT provides long term reliable support to
small scale oil palm farmers and out grower’s schemes, Bugala and out lying Islands in Kalangala District.
KOPGT works closely with Ministry of Agriculture,
Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) Vegetable Development Project phase
two.(VODP2) to achieve its mission of supporting farmers.
To realize its mission, KOPGT maintains a
lean secretariat on Bugala Island (Kalangala) Uganda and intends to strengthen
the human resource capacity at the secretariat by recruiting personnel for two
vacant positions as follows:
REPORTS
TO: Accountant
DUTY
STATION: Kalangala
Main
Responsibilities
To support the finance department in
preparing accurate monthly and annual accounting records and reports for
presentation to both management and project management unit
General
Responsibilities;
- Compile supporting documentation, verifies accuracy of itemized charges, account numbers and total costs
- Responds to inquiries, checks and accounting transactions to locate and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist the Accountant in preparing farmers’ payments
- Ensure bank payments /receipt vouchers are prepared and recorded.
- Ensure safe custody of office petty cash along with reconciled balance at the end of the day and oversee s utilization of petty cash advances.
- Maintain financial record through filling, retrieval, retention, storage, compilation, coding and up dating.
- Records, classifies and summarizes accounting transaction
- Prepare receipts for all funds received back in office
- Serve as a bank agent.
- Assist the accountant to receive expense reports and advance requests from staff members and performs initial review for accuracy and completeness.
Desired
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a degree in Accountant from a recognized institution or professional Qualification of at least stage II of either ACCA OR CPA.
- A minimum of 2 Years work experience from a public or private sector organization.

communication and interpersonal skills.

Highly motivated with good
organizational and analytical ability.
Duration
of assignment for both positions
An initial contract of 2 Years with
approbation period of 6 months, and renewable no a satisfactory performance.
Remunerations:
Negotiable but al posts carry attractive
packages and competitive salaries for the right candidates.
