Kalangala Oil Palm Growers Trust (KOPGT)
support oil palm farmers in Kalangala to grow oil palm and market the group for
the benefit of the oil palm growers. KOPGT provides long term reliable support to
small scale oil palm farmers and out grower’s schemes, Bugala and out lying Islands in Kalangala District.
KOPGT works closely with Ministry of Agriculture,
Animal industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) Vegetable Development Project phase
two.(VODP2) to achieve its mission of supporting farmers.
To realize its mission, KOPGT maintains a
lean secretariat on Bugala Island (Kalangala) Uganda and intends to strengthen
the human resource capacity at the secretariat by recruiting personnel for two
vacant positions as follows:
REPORTS
TO: General Manager.
DUTY
STATION: Kalangala.
Job Purpose:
The finance and Administration manager is a
member of the senior management team and shares in the overall responsibility
for the direction and coordination of the secretariat. The finance and the
administration manager in his/her capacity, is responsible for finance
Administration, Loan management, financial and loan reporting and human
resource management.
General
responsibilities
- Managing the activities of the finance department and coordinating the process of corporate financial planning, budgeting, and control and reporting.
- Ensure systems and accounting records are set up properly, accurately complying with statutory requirements.
- Advising management on finance implications of business activities an d initiatives to maximize profitability and or corrective actions to be taken.
- Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of management and monthly profits and loss and balancing sheet reports together with comprehensive variance analysis for presentation to the management Board.
- Responsible for managing the companies’ treasury functions, hedging strategies, banking relationships and facilities including negotiating new facilities where required.
- Responsible for cash flow management with particular emphasis on timely collections and efficient cash management.
- Over see and manage the procurement process for all the necessary goods and services.
- Spear head the planning and budgeting process for whole organization.
- Ensure that internal controls are in place and reviewed periodically for suitability.
- Contribute to the strategic development of the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, audit, tax and contractual responsibilities.
- Prepare and implement all the external audit activities and recommendation in collaboration with MAAIF/VODP2 office and in line with GAAP.
- Maintain organization assets and up date the asset register in accordance with the laid down asset policy.
- Maintain the information technology infrastructure and initiate and supervise of the appropriate ICT function.
- Contribute to the development and establishment of the KOPGT Human resource (HR) function.
- Manage the HR function in line with the HR policy to promote optimal performance, motivation, efficiency and development of staff.

Academic
Qualification
- A holder of Bachelors Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting form the recognized University.
- Membership to the ACCA, or ICPAU
Required
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 Years experience of which two should be at management level within the finance department.
- Proven experience of human resource management in the reputable institution.
Key
Competencies:
- Computer literate with proven skills in using MS office and at least two accounting packages
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and commitment to duty
- Excellent understanding of business and financial planning including strategic modeling
- Excellent experience with budgeting and budget management .
- Excellent understanding of financial system and procedures.
- Excellent working knowledge of Uganda tax laws.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic decisions.
- Possession of good communication and administrative skills.
- Team player with high level of integrity and good interpersonal skills.
Duration
of assignment for both positions
An initial contract of 2 Years with
approbation period of 6 months, and renewable no a satisfactory performance.
Remunerations:
Negotiable but al posts carry attractive
packages and competitive salaries for the right candidates.
