 Aviation Services: The aim of the Aviation division is to assist in maintaining the critical aviation infrastructure in support of economic development. The division provides investment, management and operational expertise and training. AKFED has taken a majority stake in Air Burkina, as part of a privatisation plan launched by the Government of Burkina Faso, which was designed to ensure the long-term viability of the airline. AKFED is continuously reviewing additional air transport needs and required investments in this sector, in Sub-Saharan Africa and Central Asia. The Position
Air Uganda was formed in 2007 and began commercial operations on November 17th 2007, headquartered in Kampala with its operational base at Entebbe International Airport.

The CEO will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable development and operation of the airline. The CEO will lead on strategy, sales and marketing, network management, distribution, finance, human resources, government/regulatory affairs, legal, information technology, and all aspects of operations ' flight operations, maintenance and engineering, airport customer service, in-flight customer service and systems operations control.

In the near term, the focus of the CEO will be to ensure that Air Uganda adapts its capacity and workforce to drive its transition featuring high degrees of efficiency and productivity in order to optimize Air Uganda's cost structure.

Given the nature of the role, the new CEO must also lead an effective program of liaison with key external constituent groups including employees, investors, government, regulators, marketplace influencers and media to ensure that Air Uganda's interests are coordinated with those of its stakeholders.

The position is based at Air Uganda's corporate headquarters in Kampala, Uganda with international travel as necessary.
The Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following profile:

·         A minimum of fifteen years of relevant airline industry experience and a well-established industry network and reputation.
·         General management experience, having managed a profit-and-loss, on a stand-alone, subsidiary or divisional basis. Brings broad-based airline knowledge and managerial experience, gained as a developing or seasoned airline executive across a number of key functions ' sales and marketing, operations and finance.
·         Experience in keeping airline operating costs to an absolute minimum, identifying and pursuing creative means of cost containment and 'doing more with less.'
·         Has ideally led and managed a successful cost optimization management plan in the airline industry or has been part of a change management team proving to increase efficiency while reducing significantly losses.
·         Experience as an organizational 'ambassador.' Having served in roles that have required him/her to represent the organization at senior levels.
·         Ideally, experienced working with a board of directors and investors.
·         Experience working in a productive and collaborative manner with aviation regulatory authorities.
·         Has ideally worked in a hotly competitive airline environment.
·         International experience and orientation and a demonstrated ability to work effectively across cultural boundaries.
·         An unblemished record as related to his/her ethical integrity and that of the organizations he/she has served.
·         An undergraduate degree in business or economics and ideally, an M.B.A.
