In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of
Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and
Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts. Save the Children delivers
programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile
and Central regions of Uganda.

Role Purpose:
The Program Officer, Advocacy and Communications will work under the
supervision of the YEB, Project Manager with technical support from the
Communications Manager.

She/he will provide editorial, creative and operational support across Save
the Children’s work in the region.
·
She/he will play a key role in ensuring our communications are both
influential and informative for the full range of our stakeholders.
·
The Officer will support the advocacy initiatives in the region.
·
She/he may also be called upon to support programs in emergency responses.
Qualification and Experience;
Essential
·Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mass Communication or related
field. Post Graduate training in Journalism, Media Studies, International
Communication or any relevant field is an added advantage
· At least three years’ experience in a media house or related position in
an international development organization.
· Strong writing, editorial and graphic skills.
Desirable
· Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and
perform effectively as a member of a team.
· Willingness to travel and work in
hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
· Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills.
· Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of
humanitarian responses.
· Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an
international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
· Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as
necessary.
· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including
influencing, negotiation and coaching.
· Excellent time management and planning capacity.
· Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of
humanitarian
