Job Purpose:
The job holder takes responsibility for provision of leadership and
guidance to the implementation of the
SCI finance strategy and projects in various districts in the region of
operation, ensuring quality assurance and compliance in financial management,
providing financial information to management
team and budget holders.
In addition, provides technical support and inputs to programme planning,
budgeting and implementation support to partners in financial management,
reporting, representation, monitoring and evaluation. The job holder may be
called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of
humanitarian crisis.
Academic back ground, Experience & Person Specifications;
- Bachelors’ Degree or
higher in Commerce, Business Administration or Finance management.
- Must be a member of an
Accounting profession such as ACCA or CPA. Post Graduate training in Project
management or Finance will be an added advantage.
- At least 4 years’
experience in finance and accounting position and relevant experience
supervising and developing the capacity community based institutions in
financial management.
- Strong background in
external donor reporting for an international NGO and experience working with
major donors like NORAD, DANIDA USAID, SIDA, EU, DFID and the UN.
- Strategic thinker with
demonstrated experience in financial management, budget monitoring logistics
and Human Resource Management, knowledge of computer Accounting
packages and a good
understanding of major donors
financial requirements, conditions and government budgets and tax
policies.
General specifications applicable to all positions;
- Experience of working with
local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance,
Health, Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added
advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and
strategic planning abilities.
- Ability to establish and
maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a
team.
- Willingness to travel and
work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
- Computer literacy and
excellent documentation skills are a must.
- Availability and
willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
- Highly developed cultural
awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people
from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to intervene with
crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
- Highly developed
interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and
coaching.
- Excellent time management
and planning capacity.
- Availability and
willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
