Brief Company Profile:
PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is a UK-based charity/social
enterprise hybrid with a mission to ‘unlock the potential of Africa by
delivering equal access to affordable, quality and sustainable secondary
education’. PEAS build and operate low-cost secondary schools in Uganda and
Zambia in areas where access to quality secondary education is limited due to cost
and geographical barriers. Since opening its first schools in 2008, PEAS has
grown to 26 schools(24 of these schools are in Uganda, and two are in Zambia)
and currently educates over 11,000 students.
PEAS want every student in a PEAS school to ‘survive and thrive’ by giving
them the knowledge and skills to lead a fulfilling and socially responsible
life. In order to achieve this, PEAS interventions are built upon 3 pillars of
education: Access, Quality and Sustainability.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
PEAS has recently opened 2 regional offices in Uganda based in Soroti and
Bushenyi. The Educational Specialists (ESs) based in these offices will work
closely with a cluster of PEAS schools to drive school improvement through
support for teachers and school leadership.
They will be involved in teacher training, support for new policy/programme
interventions, analysing school progress and helping school leaders implement
School Inspection recommendations and School Improvement plan targets.
The ESs will also support the central PEAS-Uganda Education Department by
designing and delivering regional teacher and school leader training and
supporting the follow-up of training in schools and classrooms.
Reporting to:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Qualified Teacher Status
(or degree or masters in an Education related field)
• Teaching experience
• Excellent communication
skills (written and oral)
• Excellent team work

working in a developing country an advantage
