Job Description:
Purpose of the job:
To carry out research, teaching,
mentoring and administration within Faculty of Science and Technology,
Department of Agricultural Sciences and Entrepreneurship.
Oversee students practical
attachments/ training at the university Farm.
Job description
·
To teach at undergraduate and
graduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty/Head of Department.
·
To carry out research, teaching,
mentoring, supervision and administration within the Department of agricultural
sciences and entrepreneurship.
·
To engage with the broader
scholarly and professional communities.
·
To supervise or assist with
supervision of undergraduate, taught graduate (Masters) students.
·
To contribute to the development,
planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
·
To assist in the development of
learning materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress,
achievement and attendance.
·
To participate in departmental
and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building
interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
·
To participate in the
development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
·
To provide pastoral care and
support to students.
·
To participate in the administration
of the department’s programmes of study and other activities as requested.
·
To contribute to departmental,
faculty, wide working groups or committees as requested.
·
To maintain own continuing
professional development.
Preferred Skills:
Qualifications and experience
·
Minimum of a Masters degree in
agribusiness, agricultural economics, management, agriculture, horticulture or
crop/plant science.
·
Bachelors degree in Agricultural
science or related fields
·
Two years teaching experience at
University level; evidence of ability to teach and supervise academic work by
undergraduates and postgraduate students.
·
Certificates in animal husbandry
an added advantage.
·
Minimum experience of 3 years in
agricultural production and marketing or working with/ training farmers.
·
Strong preference will be given
to candidates with ability to teach other related courses like sustainable
agriculture, agricultural extension and Masters of Agriculture in crop science
and/or animal science and /or agricultural economics.
