Sheraton Kampala Hotel is a member of the Starwood hotels and resorts and is located in the heart of Kampala City surrounded by its beautiful gardens; the hotel features 236 newly renovated guest rooms and suites with magnificent views that welcome guests with a spirit of warmth and hospitality.
Tasks:
The Internal Auditor seeks to promote business enhancements such as process improvement, risk mitigation, transformed controls and increased business value.
Additionally, the Internal Audit department evaluates the design, implementation and effectiveness of the organization’s controls, ethics-related objectives, programs and activities.
 Ensures that policies, standards, procedures and guidelines are strictly adhered to.
 Performs complex, professional internal auditing work. Work involves planning, managing and performing operational, financial, and compliance audit; assisting in the evaluation of the effectiveness of controls, identifying ineffective practices, recommending measures for improvements and monitoring compliance.
Reviews the Hotel’s financial records and other reports, systems and controls and presents the audit findings to management, highlighting strengths and weaknesses observed during the audit process.
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of five years of full time experience in auditing and/or accounting.
• Public accounting auditing and/or hospitality experience coupled with “Big 4” experience preferred.
• Certification as CIA, CPA, ACCA or other applicable certification.
• In-depth knowledge in internal audit concepts and techniques with analytical and problem solving skills.
• Considerable skills in effective verbal and written communications, including active listening skills and skills in presenting findings and recommendations.
• Considerable skills in planning and project management and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Working knowledge of the computer systems e.g. Opera, Micros, Materials Control.
