Duties:
The pro-active recruitment of foreign direct investment from South Africa to Uganda through:
Presentations and seminars on the Ugandan investment environment to business executives;
Matching potential investors with investment opportunities in South Africa and Uganda;
Guiding potential investors through the investment process and assisting them with establishing their operations in the Uganda.
The active promotion of South African exports to Uganda through:
- Identifying potential buyers of South African products through market research;
- Matching potential Ugandan importers with South African exporters;
- Responding to trade enquiries from both the Uganda and South Africa;
- Providing support to importers and South African exporters to facilitate export transactions;
- Organise and participate in trade exhibitions;
- Monitor changes and developments in the Ugandan economic environment and inform the South African authorities.
- Manage the budget allocation of the Economic Office, monitor expenditure and submit expenditure reports to Head Office in South Africa.
- Submit regular progress reports on projects to the South African High Commission in Kampala and Head Office in South Africa.
Requirement:
- A relevant qualification in Economics/Marketing preferably B.Com. with Economics as a major, plus a minimum of 2 years proven experience in marketing or related field,
- Sound Knowledge of the Ugandan economy; Practical knowledge and experience in market research aimed at the identification of potential investors and importers; An experienced public speaker with good presentation skills and the ability to speak with authority;
- A mature person with an excellent command of written and verbal English; Project Management and Organisational skills; Fully computer literate;
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural and dynamic environment;
- Ability to comfortably interact with senior government personnel and business persons at CEO level;
- Personal attributes: ability to cope with pressure, self-confidence, work responsibly with minimal supervision, integrity and honesty, communicate with senior government personnel and distinguished members of the public professionally, service-driven with emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness.

The South African High Commission offers a remuneration package that will be determined according to the candidate's qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be subjected to a one year probation period and obtaining the appropriate security clearance.
