The position reports to the Manager – Facilities
& Fleet Administration
The main purpose of
the job is:
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager,
the candidate plans, organizes and directs activities and suppliers related to
the maintenance of and related projects for offices, switch, warehouses, shops
and expatriate buildings as listed below. He /she supervises personnel,
resources and communications to meet office and other building maintenance
needs and ensures smooth and efficient activities, supervises and evaluates the
performance of assigned contractors and does other work as required.
Prime responsibilities
of the positions:
- To ensure that all MTN U premises and office related equipment is in a good state of repair through routine inspection of the facilities, fault identification and rectification by the responsible contractors.
- To effect timely resolutions of fault reports by liaising with contractors and staff.
- To supervise all regular and ad-hoc contractors with respect to facilities maintenance and repair (cleaning, mechanical, civil and building maintenance, air conditioning etc).
- To supervise the implementation of the maintenance plan for all MTN buildings utilizing external contractors as necessary.
- Coordinate all office moves/shifting and work place changes liaising with the affected department heads as appropriate.
- To ensure that fault reporting on all office and building equipment (with exception of IT and technical non facilities equipment) is done and resolved in a timely manner.
- To coordinate and supervise property maintenance and or upgrades.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to resolve any supplier related queries with regards to facilities management.
- Identify opportunities and initiate improvements to current system and processes.
- Follow up internal supplier approvals for facilities related suppliers ensuring that the SLAs are adhered to, escalations are made timeously and that due process for supplier payments is followed.
The applicant must
possess the following;
- A Higher diploma in Civil engineering or any other engineering discipline.
- Clerk Of Works Experience at a busy building construction site.
- At least 3 years of related experience in a busy Administration or facilities/estates officer role supervising contractors particularly in general building maintenance works generating fault reports as well as project supervision for office remodeling, office relocations and or major upgrades.
- Analytical skills tailored towards business process improvement, reliability, and efficiency and change management.
- Effective team player.
- Strong initiatives and leadership skills, lead and work within a team and be readily able to change and evolving priorities.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Strong sense of confidentiality.
- Available to work over the weekend when required to do so.
