Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an international humanitarian NGO. For over
thirty years it has been implementing Food Security and Livelihoods, Nutrition,
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in Lira, Apac, Oyam, Otuke, Gulu,
Kaabong, Napak, Moroto, Adjumani and Kiryandongo Districts. ACF seeks to hire a
highly competent, dynamic and experienced Nutrition Officers to be based at our
Adjumani and Kiryandongo field offices. The nutrition officer will be
responsible for supporting health workers, Village Health Teams and communities
to ensure early identification, referral and management of acute malnutrition
among south Sudanese refugees and the host communities.
Job Description :
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Support health workers at selected
health facilities and established outreaches to manage acute malnutrition among
children < 5yrs and pregnant/ lactating mothers according to IMAM guidelines.
-Assist in regular on-job mentorship and support of health workers, Village
Health Teams and District Health Teams in management of acute malnutrition
-Ensure that health facilities and VHTs are equipped with necessary IMAM
equipments and tools for screening, management, referral and follow-up of
targeted beneficiaries.
-Participate in rapid nutrition assessment and nutrition surveillance
conducted within the catchment area.
-Assist in the development and dissemination of relevant IEC materials on IMAM
and IYCF
- Provide health and nutrition education to project staff and other support
personnel.
-Supervise community and health facility health and nutrition education on
key essential nutrition actions, infant and young child feeding and prevention of
hygiene related diseases in refugee settlements and host communities
-Oversee the collection, handling, analysis and reporting of data related
to nutrition screening, client follow up and NFIs.
-Prepare weekly and monthly reports in standard reporting format
-Other duties as assigned from time to time
Skill Set :
Educational Requirements:
-Bachelor degree in Nutrition or
related field - Work Experience: -Minimum of 3 years experience in IMAM.
-Extensive knowledge and experience in implementation of IMAM
-Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English
-Knowledge of word processor , spreadsheet and software use like ENA, SPSS
plus other programs advantageous Working Languages:
-Fluent in English and Madi local language of Adjumani
Other Desirable skills:
-Excellent facilitation skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
and make decisions independently
-Extremely flexible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
-Excellent reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage -Diplomatic and
culturally sensitive
-Fluency in written and spoken English -Fluency in the local language is a
must
-Possession of a valid riding permit
