About the Job:
The Group Sales
Manager’s primary responsibility is
to sell the
USS Midway Museum
experience to tour
operators, hotels, destination
management companies, corporations
and other travel
related industry organizations
. This position
requires a significant
amount of car
travel with some
occasional overnight stays.
SUMMARY
OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Create and implement
TIS Marketing Sales
Plan.
•Establish and cultivate
top level relationships
among existing and
perspective travel industry
partners.
•Along with selling
and business building skills,
develop and deliver
presentations and customer
proposals to sell the Midway
experience to successfully
promote and consummate
the sale of
products to achieve
or exceed the
sales plan.
•Serve as a
driver of business
development and grow
current and new
business.
•Utilize data sources
to analyze and
capitalize on sales
opportunities with the
greatest ROI. Communicate
key competitive activities,
trends, and changing
customer development plans
and priorities, which
includes emerging customers.
•Establish and maintain
a customer database
(CRM software). Use
system completely
to fulfill management expectations
recording and utilizing
customer and sales
information.
•Manage and mentor
the TIS Assistant.
•Manage programs that
include tickets, pre sold,
group and consignment
tickets and vouchers.
•Represents the museum
at industry related
tradeshows, conventions, meetings
and vendor fairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
Education/Experience:
•Four year college degree
or equivalent combination
of education and
experience.
•Minimum of 3
years’ related experience.
•A proven track
record in hospitality industry sales.
•Established relationships and
networks in the
Southern California hospitality
industry preferred.
• Experience in delivering
presentations to groups/individuals.
Skills/Abilities
• Strong understanding of
the outside sales
process cold calling, prospect
development, closing, account
servicing.
•Comfortable with public
speaking/group presentations.
•Excellent verbal and
written communication skills.
•Excellent sales and
negotiation skills
•Ability to work
in a self initiating business
environment.
•Ability to interact
with a wide
variety of individuals
in a professional
manner.
•Ability to multitask
efficiently.
•Excellent organizational skills
and high attention
to detail.
•Ability to deal
effectively with deadlines
and time pressures.
•Computer skills to
include proficiency in
MS Office applications,
including Word, Excel,
Outlook, and PowerPoint.
•Valid driver’s license
and exemplary driving
record.
•Team player ready
and willing to
help wherever needed
or assigned.
Working Conditions:
•Job Conditions/Work Location:
Work is
performed aboard an
Aircraft Carrier and
in the south
western region. Work
schedule includes frequent
overnight travel and
ability to work
nights, weekends and
holidays.
•Physical Requirements:
Constant climbing up/down
stairs and ladders;
bend stoop, and
lift to move
and retrieve materials;
pull/push lift, and
carry up to
20 pounds; reach
both above and
below shoulder height.
•Equipment Operated:
Computer (Microsoft Office
Email, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint etc.), printers,
fax machine, telephone,
