Position Title: Volunteer Accountant

About the Organization:
Accounting for International Development (AfID) is a social enterprise that
offers experienced finance professionals the opportunity to use their skills to
make a difference as volunteers and to gain rewarding hands-on international
development experience.
Individually tailored assignments, ranging from 2 weeks
to 12 months, form part of an ongoing strategy of AfID to build the financial
management capacity and long-term sustainability of charities and non-profit
community organizations across the world.
About the Job:
AfID is seeking a Volunteer Accountant. S/he will be placed with partner
organization working to improve the lives of children and the communities
affected by the long running conflict in northern Uganda.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Assess the existing accounting
processes and controls;
Make and implement
recommendations aimed at strengthening the internal controls and building the
capacity of local staff;
Support the movement to
computerized accounting system such as QuickBooks.

Our partner is a Christian-based organisation working to improve the lives
of children and the communities affected by the long running conflict in
northern Uganda. Broadly the programme divides into two main projects:
Education and Community Development, and Health & Water, Sanitation &
Hygiene.
