Background Information:
The Medical Research Council I Uganda Virus Research Institute (MRC/UVRI)
Uganda Research Unit on AIDS based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute,
Entebbe has obtained funding from the Medical Research Council UK I Department
for Intemational Development (DFID) under the African Leadership Award
mechanism to undertake a study on the mental health problems of children and
adolescents living with HIV/AIDS.
The MRC IUVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS would like to invite
applications from suitably qualified persons for the post of Scientist in this
study.
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist Researcher or Clinical
Psychologist Researcher to coordinate this study within the Mental Health
Research Project at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS.
The position will be based in Entebbe with frequent travel to the 4 study
sites in Kampala and Masaka.
Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be a
key member of the leadership of the study team, involved in planning and
coordination of work at the 4 study sites in Kampala/Entebbe and Masaka at H IV
care facilities.
The successful candidate will report to the head of the Mental Health
Research Project at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS.
The successful candidate should have at least 3 years' experience in mental
health research and preferably in the area of childhood and adolescent mental
health.
The post will suit an individual who
has a master's qualification in psychiatry or clinical psychology as well as
proven leadership and management skills.
The appointment will be for period
of 2 years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal subject to
satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
