The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme at BRAC Based on the
understanding that the future of Africa will be determined majorly by the
youth, the MasterCard Foundation has launched a scholar’s programme. BRAC is
partnering with the Foundation to implement this Programme in Uganda. The
vision of the programme is to educate and develop meritorious; yet economically
marginalized young people in Africa, next-generation leaders who are committed
to giving back, with access to quality education, and deliver holistic
financial, emotional and academic support throughout their secondary education.
In Uganda, this eight year programme will extend support to 5000 scholars
across the country; BRAC Uganda invites applications from suitably qualified
Ugandan Nationals to fill up the vacant positions currently available within
its scholars programme
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Responsibilities:
§ Managing Communication for internal and external purposes for the
MasterCard foundation scholars at BRAC
§ Reporting and analysis of various programme initiatives as per the
agreement with MasterCard foundation
Within this context, you will fulfill the following tasks:
i. Communication.
§ Support implementation of all activities, (scholars selection and
recruitment, educational support, comprehensive students support services,
network of high quality institutions and alumni network), particularly in
respect to communication. This includes:
• Prepare newspaper announcements, posters and other IEC material required.
• Comment on design elements of all programme outputs
• Ensure brand compliance of all programme outputs
• Contribute to the development of training materials
• Assist in the organizing of the leadership congress scholars
• Assist in establishing a scholars’ alumni network
§ Ensure efficient and effective communication withal internal and external
stakeholders regarding the programme.
§ Develop case studies by tracking and following up scholars
§ Establish and maintain liaison with existing and potential programme
partners and explore potential partnerships for the benefit of the programme.
§ Work closely with other BRAC programme.
§ Any other task assigned to achieve the vision of the programme.
ii. New initiatives and business plan
§ Identify potential areas of interventions in line with the strategic
objectives and integrated approach of BRAC in Uganda
§ Identify resource potentials within Uganda for existing and new areas of
interventions
§ Develop proposals for various interventions and respond to various funding
opportunities
§ Assist in developing strategic objectives and implementation plans for
various teams and programmes within BRAC Uganda
§ Good knowledge in TOR and MOU writing and analytical skills. Reporting analysis
of programme initiatives
§ Compile reports from schools and Regional Coordinators.
§ Prepare programme reports as required
§ Support research and monitoring activities of the programme
§ Ensure cross learning with other programmes and work in partnership with
all BRAC programmes, particularly youth programmes
Qualifications/Requirements:
§ Masters Degree preferably in Mass Communication or Public Relations
§ Previous knowledge and experience in multi-national organisations
§ Experience of working with media and in a multicultural environment
§ Excellent English language skills
§ work experience of more than 05 years with communication or media
organisations
§ Good team player and demonstrated leadership qualities
§ Excellent expertise in project proposal writing
