POST: COMMUNICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT OFFICER

BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Uganda
Capacity Program is to strengthen Human Resources for Health (HRH)
systems to improve workforce
planning, health worker skills, allocation, and utilization of health workers, and
strengthen systems for sustained health worker
performance to improve health
outcomes for the people of Uganda.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
To raise the profile of UCP
through documentation and dissemination of key program achievements to various stakeholders
including United States Government (USG) and non USG development partners,
government departments and the general population.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Work with program senior
management to develop a UCP strategic communication and documentation plan and
oversee its implementation
2. Identify key program areas
for documentation and dissemination
3. Lead documentation of key
program achievements including writing, success stories, news briefs and blogs
4. Participate in conducting
operational research to inform programming and showcasing program impact
5. Take on overall coordination
of quarterly and monthly work planning
6. Provide technical support to
program staff in preparing for and carrying out key program events for maximum
program visibility
7. Build staff capacity in
documentation and communication
8. Perform any other assigned
duties
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
§ Degree in Social Sciences,
Marketing, Mass Communication or other relevant field
§ Additional training in
behavior change communication and/or project planning and management
§ Excellent oral and written
communication skills in English
§ Ability to conduct rapid
stakeholder analysis and design appropriate communication messages based on
identified needs
§ Experience writing technical
reports, conducting and publishing research
§ Experience developing
communication messages
§ Experience working with a
variety of donors and USAID in particular
§ Computer literacy in Word,
Excel, Power Point

§ Willingness and ability to work
with all stakeholders
§ Willingness to accept
additional responsibilities
§ Willingness to work overtime
as required
§ Willingness to travel
throughout Uganda with partners and key stakeholders, and potentially internationally,
as required.
